At Chester Hill Public School, our teachers are skilled in identifying students' strength - whether intellectual, creative, social-emotional or physical - and providing the right level of challenge to help them excel. Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

At Chester Hill Public School, Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) lives in everyday practice. Some students demonstrate high potential, and we nurture this potential so it grows into powerful achievement. We provide differentiated practices that allow students to demonstrate high potential across the four domains—intellectual, creative, social-emotional, and physical.

Our teachers use differentiated tasks that adjust pace, complexity, and depth of learning to challenge students and extend higher-order thinking.
Our classrooms are supportive environments that foster perseverance and risk-taking. Students receive feedback and set learning goals to guide their growth.
Flexible grouping allows students to share ideas, take lead roles, and present their thinking.
Our teachers engage in professional learning to support the diverse needs of all students, including our high potential and gifted learners.

Every student is individual, so opportunities are flexible and diverse.

Cheso Challenge Club - Stage 1 students collaborate with like-minded peers exploring a concept linked to their classroom units of work. They tackle tasks that address higher-order thinking.

STEM Project - Students problem solve and innovate using digital technologies. They collaborate to apply STEM skills and critical thinking to design challenges.

Public Speaking – Students develop their confidence and articulation by preparing and delivering speeches on a range of topics. They have the opportunity to participate in competitions, showcasing their ability to engage an audience and present ideas effectively.

Premier's Spelling Bee – Students with a passion for words can challenge themselves in the Premier's Spelling Bee. This competition encourages vocabulary development, spelling accuracy, and confidence in public performance.

Premier's Sporting Challenge – This initiative encourages students to stay active and develop healthy habits through regular physical activity. Participants track their movement and strive to reach fitness goals while promoting teamwork and perseverance.

Planet Protector Club- This initiative aims to improve the world around us by displaying initiative taking responsibility for our school environment.

Student Leadership Team - This group of students serve as role-models to the student body by setting a positive example. They support teachers and develop leadership qualities throughout their roles and responsibilities.

Across NSW

Our students participate in a wide range of regional and statewide programs to extend and enrich student potential.

Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) – Students in Years 3-6 have the opportunity to represent our school in inter-school competitions through PSSA. They compete in a range of sports, developing teamwork, sportsmanship, and a commitment to fair play.

Debating – Our school participates in debating competitions where students learn to construct persuasive arguments, think critically, and communicate confidently. Representative Teams compete against other schools, refining their ability to express and defend their viewpoints.

APSMO Maths Olympiad – High-achieving mathematicians in Years 5 and 6 take on challenging problem-solving tasks as part of this international competition. They develop advanced mathematical reasoning and learn strategies to tackle complex problems.

APSMO Maths Explorer – Designed for students in Years 3 and 4, this program builds mathematical curiosity and problem-solving skills through engaging challenges and activities that promote logical thinking.

Young Archibald – Budding artists have the opportunity to create and showcase portrait artwork in the style of the prestigious Archibald Prize. This competition nurtures creativity, artistic expression, and attention to detail.

Years 4-6 Write On Competition – Aspiring writers participate in this creative writing competition, crafting imaginative and engaging pieces based on a given stimulus. This program helps students refine their storytelling and literacy skills.
